DC Ranch
Back in the early 1900’s, after Fort McDowell closed E.O. Brown homesteaded a section of land near the only perpetual spring in the McDowell Mountains. He eventually acquired that spring, which piped water all over the ranch and still produces water today, in addition to the Silver Leaf mining claim attached to it. Brown then bought the DC brand and earmark from Dr. W.B. Crosby who had it registered in 1885 and shipped the first load of cattle to California in 1910. Throughout his life Brown added to DC Ranch and the next generation of his family brought it up into modern times. DC Ranch encompasses 4,400 acres with approximately 2,600 developable acres. Things to Do in DC Ranch
DC Ranch also neighbors the gorgeous McDowell Sonoran Preserve and has plenty of shopping and services for all. Market Street is a mixed-use neighborhood center featuring specialty boutiques, restaurants, health and wellness, and other services. This area has 47 parks that are interconnected by 50 miles of landscaped paths and trails making it a great place to enjoy the Arizona weather. Some are more formal while others are more kid-friendly and many have beautiful views of the McDowell Mountains. Market Street Park is a half-acre of public space with a fire pit, grills, play area. This park has a natural stage area where the Starlight Concert Series is held every spring. With seasonal celebrations like DC Ranch Day, Eggstravaganza, Spooky Carnival and Holiday Tree Lighting, the community can come together and enjoy each other’s company.

DC Ranch also has great educational institutions, public and private, for children of all ages. Copper Ridge School and Chaparral High School are great public school options within the Scottsdale Public School District for kids and provide families with great access to fantastic teachers. El Dorado Private School, Notre Dame Preparatory High School and Scottsdale Preparatory Academy are also great options for children to attend.
