Taking Care of Outdoor Spaces
Outdoor spaces can be the highlight of any barbeque. Take care of outdoor spaces with gorgeous lights strung about the patio, lavish green lawns and foliage all around the space, and a pool to tie everything all together, a home’s outdoor space can draw in the attention of everyone that sees it. As springtime approaches, it is a good time to think about taking care of your outdoor spaces. Although Arizona can be hot for a good portion of the year, it has beautiful outdoor spaces populated with plenty of trees, cacti, flowers, and lots more. Whether you are swimming in the pool, playing cornhole in the grass, or just sitting on the patio with a cool beverage, the outdoor space is inviting and needs to be cared for ahead of time to ensure that your outdoor space is ready for fun spring and summer activities.
Taking care of your outdoor space can vary from season to season. Here are some tips of maintenance items to stay on top of by season:
Fall/Autumn:
- As the weather cools off and the foliage changes color, those leaves will fall. Keeping leaves raked up ensures that unwelcome bugs or rodents don’t find their new home in your yard.
Winter:
- Heading into the winter months, plants and shrubberies will need some extra attention. Trimming back trees and shrubs will help them stay fruitful and vibrant during the spring and summer months.
- When the temperatures drop during the night it is a good idea to cover your plants with blankets to keep them from freezing.
Spring:
- It’s always a good idea to give your patio a good scrub to get off the dirt and pollen that settled on it during the colder months.
- This is also the perfect season for homeowners to plant new plants to spruce up their outdoor space and replace any that may have died during the fall and winter months.
- Spruce up the pool as the summer will be the time when everyone uses it. Make sure chlorine levels are adequate and the pool is free of algae or gunk.
- Get outside and enjoy the warmer weather!
Summer:
- Spread fertilizer on grass areas. By doing this during the warm season, the grass will be able to grow extremely well.
- Get outside and enjoy the pool, the green grass and the well maintained trees and shrubs!
Now, apart from the seasonal things that you can do to keep your outdoor space looking gorgeous, there are also things that you can do consistently to keep your outdoor space in tip-top shape. Throughout the year be sure to cover outdoor furniture to protect it from the harsh aspects of the varying temperatures. This will ensure the furniture will last for years to come. It is also a good idea to keep an eye on weeds throughout the year. You know that one yard in your neighborhood that is covered in weeds? Yeah, you don’t want to be that. So make sure you are monitoring the weeds in your outdoor space and getting rid of them throughout the year.
By doing these things, the outdoor space of your home can look fresh and beautiful!
